The learner should be able to:
Technical objectives:
- Perform a comprehensive assessment of a pressure ulcer (location, stage, size, appearance, signs of infection) using a validated scale (such as the Braden Scale).
- Implement appropriate care for a stage 1 pressure ulcer, following current protocols: choice of dressing, hygiene, mobilization, positioning, and documentation.
Non-technical objective:
- Adopt clear, compassionate, and appropriate communication with the patient, taking into account her age, level of understanding, and vulnerability.
Program details
Mrs. Najiba, 88 years old, has been bedridden for 10 days following a femoral neck fracture, operated on one week ago. She presents with a deteriorated general condition, malnutrition (BMI 18), and urinary incontinence. She lives alone, with no close family. During the handover, the team reports a persistent redness in the sacral area. The attending caregiver must perform an evaluation and provide appropriate care.
