Biography
Ms. Rhouma is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) with a robust background in both medical simulation and clinical practice. Originally an anesthesia technician, she has been active in the field since 2010. Her journey into simulation began in 2014 with a basic life support provider and instructor session. She has since advanced her expertise through rigorous training, including a masterclass in medical simulation training with the University of Paris-Descartes and a Certificate of Further Studies in Simulation in Health Science.
Since 2018, Ms. Rhouma has been a key figure at the Honoris Medical Simulation Center, where she plays a vital role in designing and implementing effective simulation-based education. She is responsible for the smooth operation of simulation sessions, which includes identifying educational objectives, developing detailed scenarios, and creating realistic environments to achieve these goals. Her skills in managing the preparatory phases ensure that all resources are in place and that participants are well-prepared for each session.
Ms. Rhouma excels in adapting simulation scenarios to challenge learners, particularly when they encounter "atypical" diagnostic or therapeutic situations. She places significant emphasis on debriefing, leading interprofessional discussions that foster reflective practice. Additionally, she is involved in documenting sessions with actionable improvement strategies.
Her dedication to educational excellence is reflected in her continuous updates to simulation scenarios and her co-supervision of graduation projects in medical simulation. Ms. Rhouma also actively contributes to research, playing a crucial role in the planning, writing, and implementation of studies that advance the field.
In addition to her educational duties, Ms. Rhouma has expertise in technical programming, ensuring the seamless integration of simulation tools and scenarios into the learning environment.
An active member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), Ms. Rhouma participates annually in the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH). In January 2024, she presented a research poster in San Diego, USA, further demonstrating her commitment to advancing simulation education. Her ongoing involvement in the international simulation community, combined with her clinical background and dedication to professional growth, ensures that the Honoris Medical Simulation Center remains at the forefront of healthcare training.
