Biography

Ms Ben Amara has extensive experience in paramedical education. She was involved in coaching trainees during their years of practice (August 2001-October 2009) as a senior technician in resuscitation anesthesia in the operating theatre of the department of urology at the Charles Nicolle Institute. Ms Amara was a member of the executive board of the Tunisian Association of advanced Technicians in Anesthesia-Reanimation from 2001 to 2011, where she also served as the treasurer. As a member of the organizing committee of the 2014 INFA World Congress, she was the scientific program manager and was also responsible its financial management. She is a part of the Tunisian association of Technicians in Anesthesia-Reanimation, and the Tunisian Association of Sciences and Technologies. She has been a Professor of para-medical education at the Higher School of Health Sciences and Techniques of Tunis since November 2010. Since then, she has taught the techniques of care in resuscitation anesthesia for the 2nd and 3rd year Applied License in Anesthesia Resuscitation and (course, TD, TP and coaching internships). She attended the 2016 and 2018 IFNA National Resuscitation Anesthesia Congresses and World Congresses. She also attended conferences on the importance of integrating simulation into health and participated in low-fidelity and high-fidelity simulation workshops. As part of continuous professional development she participated in a Master Class in March 2017 in medical simulation at the Institute of Health Trades, to understand various aspects of simulation such as the pedagogical importance of simulation, its modalities, tailoring scenarios to objectives and targets, different types of mannequins, principles of evaluating and best practices for debriefing. Subsequently, she obtained a Certificate of Further Studies (CEC) in simulation in health sciences at the Higher School of Health Sciences and Techniques of Monastir 2017/2018, which consisted of modules on various aspects of simulation training and programme development, such as demonstration of scenarios, goal setting, planning and programme management, monitoring and evaluation of a simulation training programme and mapping results with respect to set objectives. The modules also focused on designing a simulation center and integrating high fidelity simulators and their programming. She thus acquired the skills required to integrate simulation into para-medical education for students and extended professional education for health professionals. She also acquired skills on building simulation sequences adapted to initial training and continuous professional development.
